Our latest capsule for Spring draws inspiration from Japanese aesthetics, fashion, art, & culture. We wanted to create a collection that captures both the feeling & look of Japan.
The repair sweatpants are made with inspiration from traditional boro & sashiko stitching. The philosophy behind repair follows Wabi-Sabi, which believes there is an aesthetic appreciation behind imperfections. Everyday scars & damage can be healed & fixed in a way that strengthens & within the healing, something becomes more beautiful. To keep true to this practice, our sweats are are all hand stitched, with each thread being carefully placed with this philosophy in mind. Because of this, no two pairs will be identical, adding an artistic flair to each piece.
Our back pleated trousers were made with inspiration from trousers that can be seen worn everywhere in Tokyo, with our own twist on fit & details. The balloon style fit replicated traditional Japanese baggy workwear, flaring out from the waist to create a flattering silhouette that flows perfectly on the body.
The graphics created for this collection all use references to the Japanese culture. Ranging from post cards of Asakusa during the 1900's or a historical photograph of a Geisha, we wanted to use archival photography to add a level of authenticity to the culture.
